Somatic Sexual Healing: A Workshop for CliniciansSomatic Sexual Healing

Friday, April 29, 1-4pm
215 Spadina Ave. Suite 400, Alterna room
$30 in advance, $35 at the door
Get tickets here.

Talking about sexuality and pleasure can go a long way towards helping your clients overcome their challenges. But there are also limits to what words can accomplish, which is where experiential practices can be useful. Somatic sex educator Charlie Glickman will teach you a series of safe, powerful, and effective tools to teach your clients about embodiment, boundaries, consent, and communication, while also giving you valuable and clinically-relevant information that will help you to support them. Some of these exercises include touching the hand, and possibly the forearm. Coaches and counselors who are able to include non-erotic touch in their sessions will be able to integrate these skills into their practices immediately. Therapists and other practitioners who don’t include touch in their work can guide a couple through the exercises, while observing their interactions and offering guidance and feedback.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Describe at least three ways in which somatic practices can support sexual healing in your clients.
  • Demonstrate at least six different somatic exercises for exploring boundaries, consent, and communication.
  • Discuss at least four clinically-relevant concerns that can be supported or explored through experiential work.
  • Identify at least three reasons why these practices would not be appropriate or effective for a particular client.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have plenty of tools and practices to gather valuable information and help your clients break out of their patterns and create new ways to talk about and explore touch.

Embodied ConsentEmbodied Consent

Friday, April 29, 7-10pm
The 519, 519 Church St, Room 100
$20 early bird, $25 in advance, $30 at the door

The best sex happens when you and your partner are both totally into what’s happening and wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. It happens when you say “HELL yes!” It happens when you know how to invite, give and receive affirmative, embodied consent.

Being able to create embodied consent is more than saying the right words. It takes place on a physical, somatic level and your body won’t lie about it. Rather than ignoring your gut feelings, it’s the skill of listening to what you truly desire, moment by moment. It lets you drop deeper into the pleasure and it lets you build more passion, and it makes it easier to find the places where you both get what you want. The safer you and your partner feel, the higher you can fly.

Sounds great, right? But it’s not always easy to do, especially in a world that doesn’t give us the tools to make it happen.

Charlie Glickman is a somatic sex educator and a sex & relationship coach. He’ll lead you through a series of fully-clothed non-sexual exercises to help you discover some easy ways to bring embodied consent into your sex life. You’ll learn:

  • Ways to tune into your felt sense of consent so you can track where your desires really are
  • How to mindfully play with dynamics of touch that create different experiences for the giver and the receiver
  • How to tell your partner what you enjoy so you can get more of it, and how to tell them what you’d like them to do differently
  • What you can do to keep things in the “oh, yes” zone and what to do when missteps happen

These tools will work for any sexual activity, including BDSM and kink, and can be used by people of all genders and sexual orientations. You’re welcome to come with a partner, a friend, or solo.

How to Get Freaky Without Being CreepyHow to Get Freaky Without Being Creepy: Navigating Consent, Boundaries, and Touch

Monday, May 2, 6:30-9:30pm
The 519, 519 Church St.
$30 in advance, $35 at the door
Get tickets here!

Exploring your sexual desires and fantasies can be amazingly fun, with lots of opportunities to create hot, sexy times with someone new or a familiar lover. But there are also lots of ways things can go wrong, especially when alcohol or the altered state of arousal kicks in. It’s easy to go further than you or your partner(s) want, which can cause some serious backlash.

These are important skills that people of any gender need when navigating sexual situations. The challenge is in navigating consent, boundaries, and touch without letting it kill the mood. When you can tune into your own desires, pay attention to those of your partner, and get to the overlap of everyone’s “oh, yes,” that’s when you get the reward of amazing sex.

Somatic sex coach Charlie Glickman will lead you through a series of fully-clothed non-sexual exercises to help you discover some easy ways to share your desires with your partner in ways that make it more likely that you’ll get what you want. You’ll learn:

  • How to tune into your desire more fully so you can share it with a partner
  • Tools for letting your partner know that you value and honor their pleasure and consent
  • How to offer and receive an effective invitation for touch, sex, or anything else (including non-sexual stuff)
  • How to request feedback so you can make sure you’re both having a great time
  • What you can do to keep things in the “oh, yes” zone and what to do when missteps happen

Come find out what you can do to make your sexy times hotter, juicier, and more passionate! These tools will work for any sexual activity, including BDSM and kink, and can be used by people of all genders and sexual orientations. You’re welcome to come with a partner, a friend, or solo.

People of all genders, sexual orientations, and relationship configurations are welcome.
